I live in Colorado also, sounds like u live in Silverton. U can use PVC pipe and 5 mil clear plastic to make a mini hoop house over your square foot garden. they also sell bird netting / animal netting to keep out the pests.
u leave the PVC up all season and apply the plastic/netting as needed.
Is that a hoop house you are in? Do you have your square foot garden frames w/in a structure or out in the open? It looks sweet cold and/or rainy where you are. I am in CO at about 7500 feet, so we get snow and hail in the summer. Any suggestions? I CA I didn’t have to worry about weather extremes and I loved SFG, but here I’m hesitant about having them out in the open in dread of hurt and animals devouring my efforts. Would like suggestions. Thankfulness!
